“Rick” Establishes First Dog Training Kennel in 1975, Brings in Police Dogs.

“Rick,” as his friends call him, established his first training kennel for dogs of all breeds in 1975 and swiftly began importing dogs from Germany, mainly for police work and competitive sports. Within just two years, the business was bringing in over 20 dogs per month from Germany, collaborating with police departments across New York to California, as well as engaging sport enthusiasts. These early years were pivotal in shaping both police dog training and the German sport of Schutzhund, now known as IPO in the USA.

He titled his first Schutzhund dog in 1976 and made his debut at the Schutzhund III National Championship in 1978. Since then, he has remained active, earning titles for multiple dogs in both Schutzhund and AKC competitions, and taking part in various regional, national, and international events. He has qualified for the WUSV Universal World Teams four times and has achieved impressive scores of 100 points in IPO III tracking, once at the RSV2000 WM World Championship and again at The GSDCA National Championship, consistently delivering “V” performances across all IPO III categories.
